Celebrating 75 Years of Miss Georgia

Updated: Jul 4, 2019

I spent this past weekend in LaGrange, Georgia at the 75th Miss Georgia Forum. As many of you know, a lot of changes have been made within the Miss America Organization, and even more within my Miss Georgia home. This weekend was vital in informing contestants what to expect during competition week come June, and I have so much hope for the success of this organization during our 75th year! The entire weekend was a whirlwind of information, pictures, sisterhood, and FUN; I can't wait to reunite with my Miss Georgia sisters in just a few short months.

On Saturday night, we had a costume party, and our current state titleholders, Rory pan & Annie Jorgensen, decided on the theme: eras! This was super cute, especially since this is the 75th Anniversary of the Miss Georgia Competition, and it gave me and my Teen, Megan Wright, the opportunity to think outside the box. We were both given the 1990s as our decade, and we got to brainstorming!

After a bit of research, we discovered that Miss Rome went to Miss Georgia twice in the '90s (1994 & 1995), and even more convenient was that Megan's mom was Miss Rome in 1994 and competed in Miss Georgia in both '94 & '95! Because of this, we had access to BOTH Miss Georgia opening number dresses from those years!

So, for the costume party, we dressed as the 90s...That is... Miss Rome 1994 & 1995! I couldn't think of a better tribute to the 75th Anniversary of Miss Georgia than to pay respect to our history in such a fun way!

The next morning, we chose our competition groups and placements. This year, I will be competing as GAMMA 2! This means that during the week of Miss Georgia (June 10-15), my competition schedule is as follows:

Tuesday– Private Interview

Wednesday– Talent

Thursday– Onstage Question

Friday– Evening Wear & Social Impact Statement

Saturday– Finals & Crowning

I will keep everyone updated about ticket information and the Miss Georgia Livestream as I receive more information. Stay tuned!

xoxo-
