When you hear the term “boot season,” there’s a good chance you picture oversized sweaters, scarves, jackets, and jeans along with your favorite pair of ankle boots. But what if I told you that boots aren’t just the perfect cold-weather shoe, and boot season doesn’t actually exist at all? *gasps* What? Yes, that's right. According to modern fashion trends, you can absolutely rock your ankle boots all year round! It’s no longer about WHEN to wear boots, but HOW you wear boots to make them seasonally appropriate.
Oh ankle boots, I heart you. The ankle bootie has become a mainstay in our closet and gives flats a serious run for their money when it comes to versatility. Think booties are only for cold weather? Think again! You can rock an ankle boot all year long; keep on reading to find out how.
1. Ankle Boots + Denim Shorts:
One of my absolute FAV pairings ever! You can go casual or chic with this classic summer look, and it is extremely versatile. If you're like me, you may pair your denim cutoffs with some lighter colors up top, but finish the look off with a darker pop of color in your ankle boots! Plus, you can add another accessory like this black Steve Madden Belt Bag to tie in those darker shoes. #FAB
2. Ankle Boots + Classic Cuffed Jeans:
Not only is this look versatile, but you can practically pair it with any top. Rock your denim + bootie combo with a plain white tee, or glam it up a bit with a wild print (I am totally into snakeskin right now & think it adds such a fun bit of flare to any outfit).
3. Ankle Boots + Skirt:
While not quite the most formal pairing, this duo is perfect for the casual day that ends with a night out with friends! A black mini or pencil skirt with matching black heeled booties is my go-to style, and definitely looks great on any body type (believe it or not).
4. Ankle Boots + Dress:
When summer is in full swing and you just can't bring yourself to put on pants, reach for a casual dress, oversized sunglasses, and ankle boots. This look is a favorite of celebrities, and you'll definitely look papparazi-ready. And if you're dressing up for a night out, throw on your favorite LBD (or just something fancier) instead of the sundress! There are so many ways to rock this combo, and it's guaranteed to have you turning heads.
However you decide to wear them, ankle boots shouldn't be packed up with your other boots as the weather gets warmer. Take my word for it. You can thank me later!
